Purchasing Manager

The Purchasing Manager will manage the purchasing activities including continuing development and implementation of purchasing procedures to process purchase orders and streamlining interactions with other transactions and departments. The purchasing manager will oversee the ordering of materials, supplies, and equipment from suppliers and will create and maintain vendor records and documentation. While managing the purchasing department is the main part of this role, the purchasing manager will also take a major role in the month-end close and working with the director of accounting and finance in evaluating and maintaining the balance sheet and processes.


  • Oversee team to assure purchasing efforts are timely and efficient.
  • Oversee day-to-day purchasing activities and ensure that all purchasing specialists are meeting their personal performance standards.
  • Manage and mentor a team of purchasing professionals including the delivery of quarterly employee performance checks and annual reviews to ensure employees are meeting expectations.
  • Assist Director of Accounting and Finance with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Create and manage vendor records to ensure that all proper vendor documentation is provided and maintained (such as W9, 1099, and Certificate of Insurance).
  • Process internal VOX purchase orders and map costs to the correct GL account.
  • Manage the creation of new items for purchase or sale within NetSuite.
  • Oversee the updating purchase orders and sales orders with tracking information and delivery dates for the PM and revenue teams.
  • Create and manage documentation on processes and procedures with the purchasing department.
  • Act as a backup for Purchasing Specialists as needed.
  • When necessary, act as a backup to review all submitted closed-won opportunities for accuracy and adherence to company policy prior to booking (i.e. sales order creation).


  • 2+ years of Purchasing experience.
  • 2+ years of Accounting management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management as it applies to Waterfield Tech process and procedure.
  • Excellent attention to detail, good analytical skills, and good problem-solving skills.
  • Must be self-driven.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and internal and external customer service skills working with all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to manage many complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Use time management techniques to plan and execute complex tasks.
  • Practice effective listening and communication skills.
  • Coach team for continuous improvement and development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with Excel.
  • Quickbooks, Dynamics, or NetSuite experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with multiple currencies and/or multi-national entities is preferred.
