Staff Accountant
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, performing various accounting tasks, reconciliations, and analyses. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Recording and Reporting:
- Prepare, examine, and analyze financial statements, reports, and records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Process and review invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports, ensuring proper coding and adherence to company policies.
- Assist with the collection of accounts receivable and follow up on overdue payments.
- General Ledger Maintenance:
- Maintain the general ledger by accurately recording and classifying various financial transactions.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies, investigating and addressing any variances.
Bank Reconciliations:
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded, and discrepancies are identified and resolved.
Fixed Assets Management:
- Assist in tracking and recording fixed asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of fixed asset data.
- Expense Analysis:
- Analyze and track expenses against budgets, identify trends, and provide insights to management.
- Assist in the preparation of budget variance reports and explanations.
Compliance and Audit:
- Support external audits by providing necessary documentation, explanations, and reconciliations as required.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
Financial Data Integrity:
- Maintain data integrity within the financial systems by conducting regular audits and quality checks.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the accounting department.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of streamlined processes.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information, resolve discrepancies, and provide financial insights as needed.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
- Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred but not mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting: Ability to be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Lifting: Ability to lift equipment and or tools up to 20 pounds.
- Manual dexterity: Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform tasks such as assembling or disassembling machinery or devices.
- Vision: Normal or corrected vision to work with small parts and/or read schematics or technical manuals.
- Hearing: Normal or corrected hearing to communicate with colleagues or customers.
- Agility: Agile and able to work in tight spaces such as server rooms, data centers or other.
